Display screen Excite-Fest
Big News - Making the rounds yesterday were the new display prototypes available at the Society for Information Display's exhibition.
Most notable was Royal Philip Electronics's display screens that were as thin and flexible as plastic. They were said to rugged but easy to cut in size.
One could easily sew one of these on to a sweater or jeans. Unfortunately, It'll probably be three years before it'll see the light of day.
On the other hand, the SeeReal monitors are already available.
The screen comes with two built in cameras that track eye movement so that the viewer could move about and still see the 3-D display in focus. For now though, they're priced at $12,000, but fear not, a lower-end version is planned (for about $3,600), and by next year, SeeReal hopes to deliver a consumer version to the happy tune of $500.
